Overview

Our Custom Home Page addon is a feature that allows a user to set a specific dashboard for a specific user or employee role.  This will let you customize the experience based on the user's job duties.  For example, if a user or group of users manages the product catalog, you can set their dashboard to the product catalog page.


Procedure

  1. Log into the back office
  2. Navigate to the desired dashboard page
  3. Copy the URL web address
    1. Example: http://training.cloudretailer.com/Products
  4. Setting a Custom Home Page per User
    1. Navigate to Admin → View Existing Users
    2. Select the user to set a custom home page
    3. Edit the selected user
  5. Setting a Custom Home Page per Employee Role
    1. Navigate to Admin → Manage Employee Roles
    2. Select the role to set a custom home page
    3. Edit the selected role 
  6. Go to the "Settings" section at the bottom of the page
  7. Find the "Custom Home Page" field
  8. Now edit the URL to remove everything before the slash after .com
    1. Example:  If your URL is https://training.cloudretailer.com/Products, you want to remove https://training.cloudretailer.com, so your final URL is /Products
  9. Add a "~" (tilde) at the beginning of what’s left
    1. Example: Change /Products to ~/Products
    2. The "~" key is found by holding Shift and pressing the key to the left of the 1 key on your keyboard
  10. Save your changes
