SOP - C14 Computer USB Error Recovery

Windows displays the Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) error in Device Manager.

Purpose

Clear stuck USB host controller states on the C14 computer by performing a quick power-off cycle.

Scope

Applies to any C14 terminal experiencing USB recognition or descriptor failure errors with connected peripherals.

Procedure Steps

1. Confirm the Error
2. Open Device Manager and verify that Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) is listed with a yellow warning icon under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
3. Shut down Windows
4. Wait 2 minutes (120 seconds) before powering back on to allow the system board and USB controllers to fully reset.
5. Press the power button on the back of the C14 unit again to turn the computer back on.
