SOP: Resolving Full Page Receipt Printing Issues on Windows 11 24H2

Modified on Tue, 18 Feb at 2:08 PM

Overview:

After updating to Windows 11 24H2, full-page receipts may print incorrectly, overflowing to the right of the paper. This issue is often resolved by installing the Cumulative Update KB5050577, released by Microsoft on February 12, 2025.  While Windows typically downloads and installs this update automatically, the following procedure outlines how to manually install it if necessary.

Procedure:

  1. Open Settings: Click the Windows icon in the taskbar and type "Settings." Select the Settings app from the search results.
  2. Navigate to Windows Update: In the Settings window, click on "Windows Update" in the left-hand menu (or right-hand panel, depending on the Windows version).
  3. Access Advanced Options: Click on "Advanced options."
  4. Check for Optional Updates: Click on "Optional updates."
  5. Select and Install KB5050577:  Look for an update listed as "Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2" and containing the identifier KB5050577.  It might be under a category like "Quality updates."  If you do not see KB5050577 listed, your system likely already has this update or a newer one that includes the fix.  If it is listed, check the box next to it.
  6. Download and Install: Click the "Download & install" button.
  7. Restart: Once the download and installation are complete, restart your computer.
  8. Reinstall: Uninstall and Reinstall Cloud Retailer
  9. Test Printing: After restarting, attempt to print a receipt to verify the issue is resolved.

Troubleshooting:

  • KB5050577 Not Found: If you cannot find KB5050577 in the optional updates, your system might already have the update installed, or a newer cumulative update that includes the fix. Try printing a test receipt. If the issue persists, check for other Windows Updates and install any available updates. You can also try running the Windows Update troubleshooter.
  • Issue Persists After Update: If the problem continues after installing KB5050577 and restarting, ensure your printer drivers are up to date. Visit the printer manufacturer's website to download the latest drivers for your printer model. You may also need to check your printing software or application settings to ensure the page size and margins are correctly configured
